Technology mishaps

Ever send an e-mail or text to the wrong person? I successfully managed to do just that today. Being the responsible student I am, I decided that I would send a mass e-mail plenty early ( my Lab is on friday)  to my class mates asking if I could use someone's data because several groups fell behind and we were given permission to borrow one another's data if that happened. (And yes, I was part of a group that fell behind) Love Chem Lab with all my heart....So anyway one of the venues we can use as e-mail is a system called "e-learning" I earnestly got onto my e-learning account clicked on the "Chem 111 Lab" folder. And sent an e-mail like this...
"Hi my name is Alli!!!!!!!! (many exclamations and smiley faces)
Please can I borrow............ "x"(This was then followed by more smiley faces and exclamations. After all, if I am going to be in this chem lab with them the rest of them semester, these people ought to like me right?)
I hit the "select all students" button. There. Sent. Back to making my coffee.
Today, I checked that folder, and thought "hmmmm...strange..no one responded (all 30 of them)..I know people check their e-learning accounts everyday" Ironically enough, I had originally clicked on the wrong folder (My Chem 101 class. Note the similarity.) The "select all" button I had clicked, sent the e-mail to 300 something Chem 101 students...and not my Lab class. Great.

So you think you can walk

Remember the days in junior high P.E. ; those unforgiving, hot, miserable, runs around tracks, and all the variations that coaches deemed "fun" were the worst part of your day. Remember those Indian Runs? (actual running not the nasty opposite) You would just struggle to move your way up to the front of the line..I did an Indian "Walk" today....in my Aerobic Walking Class. Yes. Aerobic Walking. Why did I sign up for this class? I figured just like anyone else.."I have legs and I can move them..Easy class." Wrong. We are the quinessential "Mall Walkers", arms pumping and hips swaying. It is not for the feeble minded. Believe it or not, "speed" walking is a challenge. Who knew that there are olympic speed walkers? Our "prof" is a scraggly 50 something year old man who has calves that make mine look like twigs (and I am a runner) Everyday he tells some long drawn out story in our warm-up and ends the story with "And that is why we do push-ups..Get on your hands and knees folks" Today the story was about climbing a mountain top, more or less a metaphor for reaching goals in life. Of course, one can not climb a mountain top if they are a weakling. We already knew the end of the story, if you want to climb mountains you gotta do push-ups. Hey thunder calves, it looks like I will be climbing this mountain for a LONG time....

Intro

I always told myself I would never be that narcissistic person who blogs about themselves constantly and obviously, I am not following suite. But I needed a creative outlet because my POLS 207 textbook is engaging me in a "staredown" and the thing is starting to really intimidate me. So here I go. My name is Allison and I am a freshman in college. I am from a small town in Texas and currently, in an equally small/smaller  town, that consists of 6 frozen Yogurt places, a "Mall" with like 3 stores, and a World Market. (Which is probably about as culturally diverse as it gets) I created this blog because, I have always admired those who can make the mundane parts of life humorous or interesting. I am constantly finding something to laugh about or think about, so feel free to follow.
